Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to read LOLs?

No. Reading LOLs on myLOLs is available without creating an account or signing in. Some features or interactions may require authentication or additional information, as described in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Who can publish a LOL?

Eligible users may submit LOLs through myLOLs. By publishing a LOL, you confirm that you have the right to share its content and agree to follow our Terms of Service, content standards, and applicable laws. We may review, reject, remove, or restrict content that violates our policies or creates legal, security, or safety concerns.

Can I publish a LOL anonymously?

Yes. myLOLs allows LOLs to be published anonymously or under an anonymous or pen name. Your real identity is not displayed publicly with an anonymous LOL. However, anonymous publishing does not guarantee that your activity can never be associated with you where information must be disclosed by law or is otherwise processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

Is my personal information shown with my LOL?

Not by default. myLOLs is designed to support anonymous publishing, but you are responsible for the information you include in your LOL, comments, images, username, or other submissions. Do not include personal information that you do not want to make publicly available.

Is there a length limit?

Yes. LOLs must contain between 150 and 220 words. Submissions outside the permitted range may not be accepted until they meet the applicable length requirements.

How are winning LOLs selected?

Where a community voting or winning program is offered, eligible LOLs may be ranked based on community participation, votes, ratings, or other published criteria. Winning or featured status is not guaranteed, and myLOLs may apply eligibility, moderation, fraud-prevention, or other reasonable rules to protect the integrity of the program.

Does myLOLs pay authors?

myLOLs does not guarantee payment simply for publishing a LOL. Eligible LOLs may receive donations from readers. Where the applicable donation program provides for an author payout, the author may receive 80% of an eligible donation after applicable processing, verification, and program requirements are satisfied. Donation availability and payouts are subject to our Terms of Service and applicable policies.

How do I claim donations from my LOL?

Eligible authors may claim donations using the unique LOL Claim Code provided when the LOL is published. The Claim Code is used as part of the verification process for eligible donations. Keep your Claim Code private and secure. Additional information may be required to process a payout through our payment providers.

What happens if I lose my Claim Code?

The LOL Claim Code is an important part of the anonymous donation-claim process. If you lose it, myLOLs may not be able to verify your eligibility through the normal claim process. Do not publish or share your Claim Code publicly, and contact support if you believe your code has been compromised.

Can someone else claim my donation?

Anyone who obtains information sufficient to pass the applicable claim and verification process may potentially attempt an unauthorized claim. Keep your LOL Claim Code private and do not share it publicly. myLOLs may investigate suspicious claims and may delay, restrict, reject, or reverse transactions when reasonably necessary to address suspected fraud or unauthorized activity.

Are donations guaranteed?

No. Donations are voluntary and are not guaranteed for any LOL or author. Eligible donations may be subject to verification, fraud prevention, payment processing, technical limitations, applicable laws, and the requirements described in our Terms of Service.
